From Netflix to Roku to revolutionary apps like HBO Now, we’ve never had so many choices in TV. But now Big Tech lobbyists and the FCC want a new mandate that will stifle innovation and force you to pay for new equipment just to watch TV. Tell the FCC to put consumers first and reject these regulations.
This new tech mandate would force costly changes to networks and require a new adapter box in every home – leaving consumers to foot the bill. It would allow Big Tech to bring the “sponsored searches” and pop-up ads they use on the Internet to TV, invading our privacy. It would limit our choices by making it impossible for small, independent and diverse networks to survive, while jacking up corporate profits at Big Tech.
It’s an egregious giveaway to the richest companies in the world who want a shortcut in their conquest to take over TV for their own profit. It won’t give consumers access to any new programming or lower their bills – but it will stifle innovation and limit consumer choice and diversity on TV.
Big Tech doesn’t need a shortcut at our expense. Tell the FCC to protect consumers not Big Tech.
